5th Grade Focus Graduation

On Wednesday November 19th our 5th Graders participated in FOCUS graduation. FOCUS is Citrus County's Anti Drug Awareness program. 5th Graders participate in classes taught by our School Resource Officer: Deputy Farmer. Upon completion of the classes the students have a graduation showing that they have learned the negative affects that drugs, tobacco, and alcohol have on our lives.

Congratulations 5th Grade!

Fall Festival at Central Ridge Elementary!

On Friday, November 14th students, parents, teachers, and staff of Central Ridge came together to celebrate. The festival, which had been rescheduled due to a rainy October evening, ran from 6pm to 8pm. Food and beverages were served as well as a number of sweet treats. With over 20 booths and rides that festival goers could visit, there was food and fun to be found throughout the Central Ridge Campus. From first grade's "glow room"; where ridgebacks got to play in a fantastic glowing room, to the rock wall and bouncy castles. Each department sponsored a booth in which festival goers could either create, play, or eat! PTA also helped make the event a huge success by providing the gift baskets for silent auction. Proceeds from the fair will go to help enrich the educational experience at Central Ridge.

Children's Author Visits Central Ridge

Timothy Weeks, the author of two popular children's books visited Central Ridge Elementary on November 5th to share with our students his stories, how he became an author, and how his mother, the illustrator of his books, creates the amazing photo-realistic drawings in his books. Weeks' two books; The Wise Old Mullet of Cook Bayou and Ol' Middler Saves the Day share the tales about courageous mullet that learn lessons about perseverance and friendship.

Mrs. Jeanne, Timothy's Mother and Illustrator, shared the various techniques she used to create the wonderfully illustrated, and culturally significant tales. Both Ms. Jeanne and Weeks shared with the students that their books came from their life experiences. The students especially enjoyed Mr. Week's cast net demonstration!
